Dear
yuletide Writer!
First of all - hi! I'm really excited to be receiving a gift in this exchange from you. To make things rather short, let me tell you that I will be absolutely happy with anything you create for me; what matters the most is that you are happy and comfortable with your piece. I, however, am a complete sucker for anything dark-ish, mysterious and particularly angsty (angst is my crack while pure fluff is not something I usually read, Crueltide is the keyword).
Generally I'm pretty open for anything, just please try to stay away from heavy graphic torture (including mutiliation and overly gory descriptions), PWP fics (I am generally not a huge lover of smut fic, so if you choose to stay away from it completely, that's fine with me!) m-preg, kinks such as watersports/scat, crossovers in general and extreme AUs (a good example for that would be modern!AU in the ASOIAF fandom which of course doesn't apply to Yuletide but should give an idea of what I mean). Otherwise, anything else is game!
Rebecca (Daphne du Maurier)
Mrs Danvers has been my favourite character of the book from the beginning on - a character I'm absolutely fascinated with. I'm seeing endless loyalty in her character, as well as endless despair. She genuinely loved Rebecca and has been made a victim of her games just like countless men, which she does not realise until the very end and it breaks my heart. Also, what is her backstory? Where did she come from, who was her mysterious husband... There is so much to explore. Rebecca is also an amazing character, you never see her and yet her presence lingers all over; especially her dynamics together with Danny, her abuse towards her, are incredibly fascinating and have so much potential to look into further. I have also always had a soft spot for Beatrice - her point of view on the things going on at Manderley, perhaps a glimpse of her past, a character study... There are countless possibilities!
Memoirs Of A Geisha (Arthur Golden)
MoaG is my one favourite book of all time (I'm also very much in love with the movie) and Mameha certainly is one of my very favourite literary characters - I love looking behind the geisha mask and seeing the vulnerable side of her that we get to see very rarely but still. I've also grown to like Hatsumomo a lot over time for the same reasons (especially towards the end when she starts to completely lose it) and am especially fascinated by her relationship (and its development) with Mameha.
Der Besuch der alten Dame/The Visit (Friedrich Dürrenmatt)
Ever since I have gotten in contact with the story, I have been absolutely fascinated and very, very much in love. Claire Zachanassian, just like Mameha, has become one of my favourite literary characters, and I have many, many feels as well as a massive head-canon for her! I ship her endlessly with Alfred Ill, and one line in the book perfectly sums up my feelings for them: Claire's love for Alfred (who, too, is still in love with her but commits an comparable betrayal all over again) cannot live and cannot die. I see her as still being completely and utterly in love with Alfred after all those years, but being so haunted by the thought of justice that she cannot see what she is doing by offering money for his death until the very end. I see a wish for her own death inside of her, and an intense character study - whether of young Claire or Claire in the days she returns to her hometown - would melt my heart. So would a few intimate glimpses of Claire and Alfred's relationship after all those years, and... Anything about them would be absolutely wonderful, really.
Again, though, I want you to be happy with what you create - you are the author, and you decide what to do. What matters the most is that you enjoy writing. I really cannot wait to see what you come up with! ♥
